Freya is a registered Bybit broker. That status is what lets Bybit create your trading key and hand it to Freya with a single approval, and it also lets your Bybit account work as a way into Freya itself.
On the login page there is a Sign in with Bybit button. If your Bybit account already belongs to a Freya account, it signs you in. If it doesn't, it starts a new Freya account instead, with your Bybit account connected for trading from the first minute.
This guide covers both directions, what you approve on Bybit, and how to turn Bybit sign-in on or off for an account you already have.
Key Takeaways
- One button does both jobs: it logs you in when your Bybit account belongs to a Freya account, and starts a sign-up when it doesn't.
- You approve on Bybit's own site. Freya never sees your Bybit password.
- Signing up with Bybit still asks you to verify an email and choose a password, so you always have a way back into your account.
- Two-factor authentication still applies. If it's on, Freya asks for your code after Bybit.
- To stop signing in with Bybit, use the switch in Settings. Deleting your Bybit API key does not turn it off.
Logging In with Bybit
- On the login page, select Sign in with Bybit.
- Bybit opens. Sign in to Bybit if you aren't already, then approve the request. It is the same approval screen Fast Connection uses: leave its pre-selected ticks as they are, including I authorize the creation of the API key.
- You come back to Freya and see Signing you in while Freya finishes.
- If you use two-factor authentication, enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app, or one of your backup codes. This step is the same one you see when you log in with your email.
- You land on your dashboard.
Start and finish in the same browser. For your security, a Bybit sign-in has to begin and end in the same browser. If you copy the Bybit page into another browser or device, Freya stops and asks you to press the button again.
When Your Bybit Account Isn't a Freya Account Yet
If Freya doesn't know the Bybit account you approved with, the button doesn't fail. It takes you straight into signing up, as described in the next section.
Signing Up with Bybit
You can start from the sign-up page with Sign up with Bybit, or from the login page with Sign in with Bybit. Both lead to the same place.
- Approve on Bybit. Bybit creates Freya's trading key on your Bybit account, exactly as it does for Fast Connection. Freya holds it for you while you finish.
- Verify your email. Back on Freya you see your Bybit account marked as connected, shown by its last digits. Enter your email address and Freya sends a 6-digit code.
- Create your account. Enter the code, your name and a password (plus a referral code if you have one), then select Complete Registration.
- You're in. Freya signs you in and attaches the key. You see Your Bybit key is attached: your Spot and Futures keys are on your account, ready for your first bot.
Why You Still Choose a Password
Signing up with Bybit doesn't skip the email and the password, and that is on purpose. A verified email is the only way back into your account if you lose access to your Bybit account or forget how you signed up. Your password is also what confirms it's really you when you change sensitive settings later.
For a new account created this way, Bybit sign-in is normally switched on straight away, so next time the button alone is enough. You can confirm it under Settings → Profile Settings → Sign-in methods.
If Your Email Already Has a Freya Account
Freya shows Email Already Registered and offers Go to Login. Log in the way you usually do. Your API Keys page then shows a Pending Bybit connection card naming the Bybit account by its last digits:
- Select Attach to my account if you recognise it.
- Select Not now if you don't. Don't attach a Bybit account you don't recognise.
Attaching adds the keys for trading, replacing a Bybit key that Fast Connection added to this account earlier. It does not turn on Bybit sign-in for an account you already had: you do that yourself in Settings, as described below.
The waiting connection doesn't last forever. If it runs out you see Bybit connection expired, and you can connect again from Settings → API Keys with Fast Connection.
Hedge Mode on Bybit Futures
Like Fast Connection, signing up prepares your Bybit futures account for Freya's bots by switching it to hedge mode. If you have open positions at that moment, the switch waits: you see Hedge mode will activate once your open positions close, and nothing else is affected.
Turning Bybit Sign-In On or Off
If you created your Freya account with an email or with Google, you can still log in with Bybit later.
- Connect Bybit with Fast Connection. A key you typed in by hand doesn't link your Bybit account for sign-in.
- Open Settings → Profile Settings. Under Security Settings, find Sign-in methods and the row Bybit account followed by its last digits.
- Select Enable. Freya asks you to confirm it's you: enter your password, or confirm with Google if that is how you log in.
- You see Bybit sign-in is on, and the row now reads You can sign in to Freya with this Bybit account.
A few things to know:
- Confirm with your password or Google, not with Bybit. If you're currently signed in through Bybit, log in with your email or Google first, then turn the switch on.
- Your email must have been confirmed with Freya. If it wasn't, you see For your security, Bybit sign-in can only be turned on for an account whose email was confirmed with Freya. Contact support if you need help.
- Turning it off is instant and needs no confirmation. You see Bybit sign-in is off, and that Bybit account can no longer sign you in.
What Does Not Turn It Off
Deleting your Bybit API key in Freya does not turn off Bybit sign-in, and neither does changing your password or signing out of other sessions. The switch is the only control. If you stop using Bybit with Freya, or you're tidying up after a security concern, turn the switch off as well.
What the Messages Mean
| Message | What it means and what to do |
|---|---|
| Bybit sign-in is not enabled | This Bybit account belongs to a Freya account that hasn't turned Bybit sign-in on. Sign in with your email, then enable it in Settings. |
| Sign-in cancelled | You didn't approve the request on Bybit, so nothing changed. Try again whenever you like. |
| Security check | The sign-in started in one browser and finished in another. Press the button again on the same page. |
| Too many attempts | Freya shows how many minutes to wait. Try again after that. |
| Sign-in could not be completed | Something went wrong along the way. Try again; if it keeps happening, log in with your email and check Settings → API Keys. |
| Could not reach Bybit | Freya couldn't start the request. Check your connection and try again. |
| Bybit sign-in is linked to another account | Your key was attached, but signing in with this Bybit account belongs to a different Freya account. Contact support if that looks wrong. |
| Bybit connection expired | A sign-up connection waited too long. Connect again from Settings → API Keys. |
Is It Safe?
- You approve on Bybit's domain. You sign in on Bybit's site, and Freya never receives your Bybit password.
- The key can trade but never withdraw. It is the same read and trade key that Fast Connection creates. Freya refuses any key that can withdraw.
- Your usual protections stay in place. Two-factor authentication still applies, and turning Bybit sign-in on requires your password or Google.
- One Bybit account, one Freya account. A Bybit account signs in to one Freya account only.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I log in with Bybit if I signed up with my email?
Yes. Connect Bybit with Fast Connection, then turn on Bybit sign-in under Settings → Profile Settings → Sign-in methods. From then on you can use either your email or Bybit.
Does Freya see my Bybit password?
No. You sign in on Bybit's own site. Freya receives the approval and the trading key, never your Bybit login details.
Do I still need a Freya password if I sign up with Bybit?
Yes. Signing up with Bybit asks you to verify an email and choose a password. They are your way back in if you ever lose access to your Bybit account.
Does two-factor authentication still apply when I sign in with Bybit?
Yes. If two-factor authentication is on, Freya asks for your 6-digit code, or a backup code, after Bybit, exactly as it does for an email login.
If I delete my Bybit API key, can Bybit still sign me in?
Yes. The API key is for trading, and sign-in has its own switch. To stop signing in with Bybit, turn it off under Settings → Profile Settings → Sign-in methods.
Can I use one Bybit account for two Freya accounts?
No. Sign-in with a Bybit account belongs to one Freya account. If you try to attach it elsewhere, Freya tells you it is linked to another account.
Can Freya withdraw my funds?
No. The key carries read and trade permission only. Freya refuses any key that could withdraw, so your funds can only leave your Bybit account by your own action.
