Managing Your Subscription: Renewals, Upgrades & Downgrades

This guide covers the lifecycle of a Plus or Pro subscription — how it renews, what upgrading and cancelling actually do, and what happens if your balance runs low. For what each plan includes, see Plans Explained; for the separate performance fee, see Fees Explained.

Key Takeaways

  • Plus (15 USDT/month) and Pro (30 USDT/month) auto-renew monthly from your platform balance by default; you can toggle auto-renewal off in Settings → Profile.
  • If your balance is too low when it renews, your plan returns to Free immediately — there's no grace period or retry, so keep enough balance for the renewal.
  • Upgrading takes effect immediately and is charged in full; there's no proration, and a Plus→Pro upgrade starts a fresh month rather than crediting unused Plus time.
  • Cancelling keeps your plan active until it expires, then reverts to Free — and you can reverse the cancellation any time before it expires.
  • When a paid plan ends you keep your account and bots; you only lose the Plus/Pro limits and exclusive features.

How Renewal Works

Paid plans auto-renew monthly, charged from your platform balance, and auto-renewal is on by default. Around your renewal date Freya charges the plan price and extends your subscription by another month. You'll also get a reminder a few days before renewal (by your linked channels) so you can top up if needed. You manage the auto-renewal toggle in Settings → Profile — see Account & Profile Settings.

If Your Balance Is Too Low at Renewal

This is the one to plan for: if your platform balance can't cover the renewal, your plan returns to Free immediately — there's no grace period and no automatic retry.

Keep enough balance for renewal

If the renewal can't be paid, you're moved to Free right away — you don't get extra days to top up. The few-days-ahead reminder is your cue to add funds. If you do lapse to Free, just top up and re-subscribe whenever you're ready.

Dropping to Free doesn't lock you out — you keep your account and your bots; you simply lose the Plus/Pro limits and exclusives until you subscribe again.

Upgrading Your Plan

Upgrading (Free → Plus/Pro, or Plus → Pro) is immediate: you're charged the plan price now and the plan activates straight away.

  • No proration. You pay the full plan price, not a partial amount.
  • Plus → Pro starts a fresh month. Upgrading across tiers begins a new month at the higher plan rather than crediting your unused Plus days, so it's usually best to upgrade near the end of a Plus cycle.
  • Your usage limits reset for the new plan (for example your backtest counters), giving you a clean start.

Cancelling Your Plan

Cancelling doesn't cut you off — it simply turns off auto-renewal and keeps your plan active until it expires, then reverts to Free.

  • You keep all features until the expiry date you already paid for.
  • It's reversible: you can reactivate (undo the cancellation) any time before it expires, and it'll renew as normal again.
  • There's no partial refund — you keep the time you've paid for rather than getting money back.

To move from Pro down to Plus, let your Pro plan lapse (or cancel it) and then subscribe to Plus — there isn't a direct "switch to a lower plan" button.

What You Keep (and Lose) When a Paid Plan Ends

When a plan ends — whether you cancelled or lapsed — you keep your account, your bots, and your funds. What you lose are the Plus/Pro limits and exclusive features (more backtests, AI analysis, longer history, and Pro-only tools). The plan feature table is in Plans Explained.

Frequently Asked Questions

When does my subscription renew, and how am I charged?

Paid plans renew about once a month, charged automatically from your platform balance (auto-renewal is on by default). You'll get a reminder a few days before so you can make sure your balance is topped up.

What happens if I don't have enough balance when it renews?

Your plan returns to Free immediately — there's no grace period and no retry. That's why the pre-renewal reminder matters. If you lapse, just top up your balance and re-subscribe whenever you like; your account and bots are unaffected.

If I upgrade from Plus to Pro mid-month, do I get credit for my unused Plus time?

No. Upgrading across tiers is charged in full and starts a fresh month at Pro — there's no proration or credit for remaining Plus days. It's usually best to upgrade near the end of your Plus cycle.

Does upgrading take effect immediately?

Yes. You're charged the plan price right away and the new plan activates immediately, with your usage limits reset for the new plan.

If I cancel, do I lose access right away?

No. Cancelling turns off auto-renewal but keeps your plan active until its expiry date, then reverts to Free. You can also reverse the cancellation any time before it expires.

Can I switch from Pro down to Plus?

There's no direct downgrade button between paid plans. To move to Plus, let your Pro plan lapse or cancel it, then subscribe to Plus.

Is the subscription the only thing I pay?

No — the subscription is separate from Freya's performance fee (a share of profitable trades, capped monthly). See Fees Explained for how the two fit together.
